Obverse description Bare-shouldered, laureate bust of Augustus facing right, rendered in fine high relief with individualized portraiture characteristic of early Augustan coinage. The emperor wears a wreath of laurel leaves over wavy hair, several strands of which fall behind the ear and onto the neck. The legend CAESAR appears in the right field along the inner border of a beaded border encircling the flan.
