Obverse description Laureate head of Augustus facing right, rendered in finely detailed high relief typical of Augustan court style. The emperor's features are idealized, with a wreath of laurel leaves clearly visible around the head and long hair locks falling to the neck. The encircling legend reads CAESAR AVGVSTVS DIVI F PATER PATRIAE, distributed around the portrait within a beaded border. The portrait exudes the classicizing aesthetic characteristic of the Lugdunum mint issues of the late Augustan period.
