| Obverse description | Jugate busts of Augustus and Livia facing right, both bare-headed, with Livia's elaborate hairstyle rendered in fine detail behind the bare-headed effigy of the emperor. The busts are presented in close juxtaposition, a common iconographic convention on Augustan provincial coinage. The surrounding Latin legend reads PERM CAES AVG P M, indicating the coin was struck by permission of Caesar Augustus as Pontifex Maximus. A beaded border frames the entire design. |
