Assarion - Septimius Severus ΦΙΛΟΜΗ ΕΠΙ ΑΚΟΥΤΟΥ

Philomelium, a Phrygian city on the plateau south of the Sultan Dağları, issued bronze coinage under its own civic authority throughout the imperial period — a privilege extended to hundreds of cities across Asia Minor that Rome found administratively convenient to leave minting small change for local use. The magistrate name partially preserved in the legend, Akoutas, is otherwise unattested in the epigraphic record, making this piece one of the few traces of his tenure.
