Obverse description Bare-headed, laureate draped bust of the young Marcus Aurelius (as Caesar, under the name Aurelius Verus) facing right, with paludamentum visible at the shoulder. The portrait is rendered in the provincial style characteristic of Carian civic coinage, with visible if somewhat coarse die-cutting. The encircling Greek legend reads ΑΥΡΗΛΙΟϹ ΒΗΡΟϹ ΚΑΙ, identifying the subject as Aurelius Verus Caesar. A dotted border frames the design.
