The emperor's characteristic short beard and curled hair are rendered in fine provincial style. The surrounding Greek legend reads ΑΔΡΙΑΝΟΝ ΚΑΙCΑΡΑ ΘЄCCΑΛΟΙ, identifying Hadrian as Caesar of the Thessalians, and runs clockwise around the periphery of the flan. A dotted border frames the design. |
