The portrait displays the emperor's characteristic wavy hair bound by a laurel wreath, with finely delineated curls framing the face. The Greek legend ΑΔΡΙΑΝΟϹ ΚΤΙϹΤΗϹ, identifying Hadrian as 'the Founder,' is disposed around the periphery of the flan.
