Obverse description Laureate bust of Emperor Domitian facing right, draped, occupying the central field. The portrait is rendered in the provincial Greek style typical of Syrian civic coinage of the Flavian period. A circular Greek legend surrounds the effigy, reading ΑΥΤΟΚΡΑΤΩΡ ΔΟΜΙΤΙΑΝΟϹ ϹΕΒΑϹΤΟϹ, identifying the emperor by his full titulature. The flan is irregular and slightly convex, with a dotted border partially visible around the periphery. The die work displays competent local engraving consistent with the civic mint of Laodicea ad Mare under the local Seleucid era year 141.
