| Obverse description | Laureate bust of Emperor Domitian facing right, draped, occupying the central field. The portrait is rendered in the provincial Greek style typical of Syrian civic coinage of the Flavian period. A circular Greek legend surrounds the effigy, reading ΑΥΤΟΚΡΑΤΩΡ ΔΟΜΙΤΙΑΝΟϹ ϹΕΒΑϹΤΟϹ, identifying the emperor by his full titulature. The flan is irregular and slightly convex, with a dotted border partially visible around the periphery. The die work displays competent local engraving consistent with the civic mint of Laodicea ad Mare under the local Seleucid era year 141. |
