| Reverse description | Full-length frontal effigy of Emperor John II Komnenos of Trebizond, standing in imperial robes and crowned, holding a labarum-headed sceptre in his right hand and an orb surmounted by a cross in his left. The Manus Dei (Hand of God) descends from the upper right field in blessing, conferring divine legitimacy upon the emperor's authority. A Greek legend naming the emperor appears in the field to either side. The composition follows the established Komnenian imperial iconographic programme, presenting the ruler in formal hieratic pose consistent with Byzantine numismatic tradition. |
