Obverse description Nimbed bust of Christ Pantokrator depicted facing, standing erect in full figure upon a dais, robed in imperial Byzantine vestments, holding the Gospels before Him with both hands. The nimbus exhibits a plain cross behind the head. The overall style is characteristic of late Byzantine scyphate coinage, with shallow relief and stylized drapery folds rendered in the hammered technique.
