| Reverse description | Saint Eugenius, the patron saint of Trebizond, depicted as an equestrian figure riding to the right on horseback, rendered in a bold, flat relief typical of late Komnenian hammered coinage. The saint is shown in military dress, consistent with his veneration as a warrior-martyr and protector of the Empire of Trebizond. A Greek legend identifying the saint surrounds the mounted figure in the field, partially visible around the irregular flan. The composition closely mirrors the obverse equestrian type, a distinctive iconographic feature of Trapezuntine aspra trachea. |
