| Obverse description | Hammered gold flan bearing multi-line Persian calligraphic legends arranged within three horizontal registers divided by ruled lines. The central register bears the royal name and title of Sultan Mahmud Hotaki in bold nasta'liq script, while the lower register records the mint name Kashan and the regnal year 1136 AH. The upper register contains additional honorific text. The script is vigorously rendered in high relief against a plain field, typical of early 18th-century Afghan-period Iranian coinage. |

| Reverse description | Hammered gold flan bearing the Islamic shahada inscription in bold nasta'liq calligraphy, arranged across two principal registers separated by a horizontal ruled line. The upper register contains the first part of the declaration of faith, and the lower register completes it with the name of the Prophet. The legends fill the field to the edges and are surrounded by a plain inner border with a beaded outer border, consistent with Hotak dynasty gold coinage struck at Iranian mints during the brief Afghan occupation. |
