| Obverse description | Bare laureate head of Vitellius facing left, with a small globe positioned at the point of the neck truncation, a characteristic device employed on Vitellian coinage. The portrait is rendered in the naturalistic Roman Imperial style, with fleshy features appropriate to the emperor's known likeness. The encircling Latin legend runs along the outer border of the flan, partially visible despite wear. The flan is broad and irregular, typical of Julio-Claudian and Year of the Four Emperors bronze production. |
