| Obverse description | Laureate bust of Emperor Vitellius facing right, draped at the shoulder, rendered in high relief with bold, fleshy portraiture characteristic of the Year of the Four Emperors. The emperor's prominent features — heavy jowls, strong brow, and thick neck — are faithfully depicted in the Roman veristic tradition. The circular Latin legend runs clockwise around the periphery of the flan, partially separated from the bust by the coin's irregular edge. |
