Obverse description Laureate head of Vespasian facing left, depicted with characteristic realistic portraiture in the Flavian style, showing the emperor's mature features with a broad forehead and strong jaw. The effigy is rendered as a bare-shouldered or lightly draped bust, occupying the central field. The surrounding legend reads IMP CAES VESPASIAN AVG COS VIII P P, distributed around the periphery of the flan. The die work reflects the competent engraving typical of the Rome Mint during the later Flavian period. The coin exhibits an irregular flan with green patination over the bronze fabric.
