At the base of the trophy, a mourning female figure representing captive Judaea sits facing left in an attitude of dejection, her hands bound, commemorating the Roman suppression of the Jewish revolt of AD 66–70. The senatorial authorisation mark S C (Senatus Consultum) appears in the field, flanking the central group. The composition is a powerful propagandistic statement of imperial triumph, referencing the Flavian victory in the Jewish War. |
