Obverse description Laureate head of Vespasian facing right, rendered in the veristic portrait tradition characteristic of Flavian imperial coinage, with strong facial features and a broad neck. The effigy occupies the central field and is framed by a beaded border. The circumferential legend reads IMP CAES VESPASIANVS AVG COS III, identifying the emperor as Imperator Caesar Vespasianus Augustus, consul for the third time. The die engraving is bold, though the surviving specimen shows considerable wear and green patination consistent with prolonged circulation and burial.
