| Obverse description | Laureate bust of Emperor Trajan facing right, draped and cuirassed, with the aegis visible on the left shoulder on some specimens. The portrait is rendered in the characteristic Trajanic style, with a strong, mature physiognomy and finely detailed laurel wreath. The circumferential Latin legend encircles the bust, naming the emperor with his full imperial titulature. The field shows the typical patination of a circulated orichalcum or bronze as of the early second century AD. |
