This as belongs to a curious transitional moment: struck in the name of Titus while Vespasian was still alive and reigning, it reflects the Flavian dynasty's deliberate effort to normalize dynastic succession — something Julius-Claudian instability had repeatedly failed to do. Titus held tribunician power from 71 AD and was effectively co-emperor, and the coinage issued under his name during this period served the political calculation of making his eventual accession feel inevitable rather than contested.
