| Beschrijving keerzijde | The personification of Spes (Hope) stands facing left in full figure, rendered in a flowing draped garment. In her right hand she extends a flower upward, while her left hand delicately raises the hem of her skirt in the characteristic Spes pose well-established in Roman imperial iconography. The senatorial authorization mark S C (Senatus Consultum) is prominently displayed in the field to either side of the figure, flanking the deity. The composition is set within a plain border, with a broad open field lending monumental emphasis to the allegorical type. |
