Reverse description The personification of Spes (Hope) depicted standing in full figure, facing left, draped in a long flowing chiton and palla rendered with fine detail. Her extended right hand proffers a flower held delicately before her, while her left hand gathers a fold of her garment at the hip, a pose canonical to Spes iconography in Roman coinage. The large senatorial authority marks S and C flank the figure in the field to left and right respectively, their broad separation emphasizing the open reverse composition characteristic of Flavian aes coinage.
