Reverse description The personification of Pax depicted as a draped female figure standing left, her weight resting against a column to her right. In her outstretched right hand she holds an olive branch, while her left hand carries a caduceus, the winged herald's staff symbolic of peace and prosperity. The senatorial authorization mark S C (Senatus Consulto) appears in the field to either side of the figure, flanking the central type. The reverse legend PAX AVGVST arcs across the upper field, invoking the Augustan peace under Flavian rule.
