She extends her right arm forward, holding a patera in offering, while her left hand grasps a long vertical sceptre. The composition echoes the seated Pax or Iustitia type common on Tiberian coinage, reflecting the ideological association of Livia with divine virtues. The encircling legend M MVN IVL VTICEN D D P P attributes the issue to the Julian municipality of Utica by decree of the decurions from public funds. A beaded border runs along the coin's outer edge. |
