The animal occupies the central field of the reverse. The surrounding Latin legend attributes the issue to the local duoviri, magistrates responsible for the municipal coinage of Calagurris, with their names distributed around the periphery: M · C · I L · FVL · SPARSO and L · SATVRNINO II VIR. The composition reflects the standard reverse type employed at Calagurris under Tiberius to assert civic identity and Roman administrative authority.
