Reverse description The Rape (Abduction) of Europa depicted as a bull — Zeus in transformed guise — galloping to the right, carrying the figure of Europa on his back. The composition is rendered in a lively, somewhat schematic style characteristic of late Republican Iberian civic bronze coinage. Below the main type, in the exergue, the abbreviated Latin legend M C F identifies the third magistrate of the issue. The reverse flan exhibits an irregular, slightly cusped edge typical of hammered provincial bronzes.
