Beschrijving voorzijde Laureate head of Emperor Nerva facing right, with a draped bust, rendered in the restrained, naturalistic portrait style characteristic of the Flavian-Nervan period. The emperor's aged features are faithfully rendered, conveying gravitas and authority. The encircling Latin legend reads IMP NERVA CAES AVG P M TR P COS II DESIGN III P P, distributed around the periphery of the flan. The portrait is boldly struck in high relief, occupying the central field of the coin.

Beschrijving keerzijde The personification of Libertas stands facing, rendered as a draped female figure in the classical Roman allegorical tradition. She holds a pileus (freedman's cap) in her extended right hand and a long vertical sceptre or vindicta (rod of manumission) in her left hand, both attributes emblematic of liberty and the emancipation of citizens. The legend LIBERTAS PVBLICA is distributed in the field around the figure, with the senatorial authority mark S C (Senatus Consultum) flanking the figure at mid-field, authorising the bronze coinage issue. The reverse type reflects Nerva's programmatic emphasis on civil liberties following the oppressive reign of Domitian.
