Obverse description Laureate head of Emperor Nerva facing right, rendered in the portrait style characteristic of the Flavian-Nervan transition period. The legend encircles the imperial effigy, reading from the lower left around the periphery of the flan. The portrait displays typical features attributed to Nerva — an elderly, lean visage with pronounced facial lines — consistent with official imperial portraiture of AD 96. The flan is broad and irregular, as is customary for hammered Roman bronze coinage of this period.
