| Obverse description | Laureate head of Emperor Nerva facing right, depicted with the characteristic aged and austere features associated with his portraiture. The bust is draped and presented in profile, rendered in the late first-century Roman imperial style. The encircling legend reads IMP NERVA CAES AVG P M TR P II COS III P P, distributed around the periphery of the flan. The portrait exhibits fine die-engraving typical of the Rome Mint under Nerva, with the laurel wreath clearly articulated above the brow. The flan shows typical irregularity and patination consistent with circulated aes coinage of the Flavian-Nervan period. |
