The portrait occupies the central field with a strongly three-dimensional profile characteristic of Roman provincial coinage struck at Corinth. |

| Description du revers | Bellerophon standing to the right in the central field, clad in military attire, grasping the bridle of Pegasus in his right hand and holding a shield in his left hand. Pegasus is depicted rearing to the left with wings raised, conveying dynamic movement. The composition is a mythological reference particularly appropriate to Corinth, the legendary home of Bellerophon. The encircling legend TI CLAVDIO OPTATO COR names the local magistrate Tiberius Claudius Optatus and the colony abbreviation COR for Corinth. The overall design reflects the civic pride and Hellenistic artistic heritage of the Roman colony. |
