| Beschrijving keerzijde | Winged Victory advancing left, depicted in flowing drapery, holding with both hands a large oval shield inscribed S P Q R (Senatus Populusque Romanus). The senatorial authorization mark S C (Senatus Consultum) appears in the field, divided to either side of the central figure. The composition conveys martial triumph and imperial authority, consistent with the iconographic programme of Neronian bronze coinage. |

Nero's later bronze coinage, struck after the Senatorial mint reform of 64 AD, reflects an aggressive monetary policy that systematically reduced the weight standard of the as. This piece, falling within the 62–68 bracket, predates or coincides with the great fire of Rome in 64 — an event that directly strained imperial finances and accelerated debasement pressure across all denominations. The SC countermark remained the formal acknowledgment of Senatorial authority over base metal coinage, a constitutional fiction Nero maintained even as he consolidated effective control over the entire monetary apparatus.
