Obverse description Bare-necked, laureate bust of Emperor Nero facing right, rendered in the naturalistic portraiture style characteristic of early Neronian coinage. The effigy displays the emperor's distinctive youthful features with carefully delineated laurel wreath and curled hair arranged across the nape of the neck. The circumferential Latin legend runs around the periphery of the flan, partially visible on this worn specimen. The portrait is executed in moderately high relief typical of aes coinage of the Julio-Claudian period.
