| Beschrijving keerzijde | A ship's prow oriented to the right occupies the lower portion of the field, rendered with the characteristic horizontal deck lines and curved hull of late Republican naval imagery. Above the prow stands a male figure in three-quarter view, raising his right arm while holding a long staff or sceptre in his left hand, likely representing Mars or a Roman deity. The legend EX S·C appears to the left of the figure, indicating the coin was struck by senatorial decree (ex senatus consulto), while MACER is inscribed below, identifying the moneyer Lucius Licinius Macer. The composition is enclosed within a border of dots, and the coin retains strong relief on the reverse despite surface corrosion. |
