The senatorial authority mark S C (Senatus Consultum) appears in the left and right fields flanking the central figure, as was standard for Roman aes coinage of this period. The surrounding legend PONT MAX TR POT COS III runs around the periphery, referencing Hadrian's priestly, tribunician, and consular titles as held in AD 121. The reverse field exhibits a dark olive-green patina with areas of blue-green encrustation. The type is catalogued under RIC II.3, 485 and represents one of the standard Victory reverses issued during the first tribunician period of Hadrian's sole reign. |
