Hadrian's extensive tour of the eastern provinces in 128–130 AD directly drove an unusually diverse output from the Roman mint during these years, with the Senate issuing coinage in his honor while he was physically absent from Rome for much of the period. The RIC II.3 revision, published in 2019, substantially reorganized Hadrianic bronze coinage, renumbering hundreds of previously catalogued pieces — meaning older collection records citing the original RIC II frequently reference entirely different specimens than intended.
