The COS III designation anchors this as to Hadrian's third consulship, held from 119 AD onward — but the 124–125 dating places it during his return to Rome after the first great provincial tour, when he made substantial efforts to project stability and munificence to the urban population. The senatorial S C authorization on the bronze coinage was, by this point, largely ceremonial; real monetary authority had long been consolidated under imperial control.
