| Obverse description | Laureate bust of Emperor Hadrian facing right, with short-cropped beard rendered in fine stippled relief, a characteristic feature of Hadrianic portraiture. The emperor is depicted with draped and cuirassed shoulders, the paludamentum visible at the truncation. The encircling legend HADRIANVS AVGVSTVS runs along the periphery in bold Latin capitals, separated from the field by a finely beaded border. The portrait is executed in the high-relief Hadrianic style, conveying imperial gravitas and idealized naturalism typical of the Rome Mint's output during the early second century AD. |
