Surrounding the SC, a two-line circular legend reads IMP T CAES DIVI VESP F P M TR P P P COS VIII RESTITVIT, attributing the restitution of this As to Emperor Titus during his eighth consulship. The inscription confirms this as a restitution issue, reviving the coinage of the Julio-Claudian period under Flavian authority. The reverse exhibits the same reddish-brown patina as the obverse, with legible lettering around the periphery despite moderate wear and surface deposits. The overall type follows the standard format of Flavian restitution aes coinage struck at Rome. |
