| 表面の説明 | Bare head of Emperor Galba facing right, portrayed with close-cropped hair and aged, strongly modeled features characteristic of Julio-Claudian and early Flavian portraiture. The effigy is rendered in high relief with a naturalistic treatment of the emperor's physiognomy. A beaded border encircles the design. The encircling Latin legend reads IMP SER GALBA CAES AVG TR P, positioned around the periphery of the flan. |

Galba's reign lasted just seven months before his murder in January 69 AD, the opening act of the Year of the Four Emperors. His bronze coinage is consequently scarce by any measure, and the Senate-authorized issues — designated by the S C authority — were struck in a compressed window at Rome. The Vesta type carried deliberate political weight: Galba positioned himself as a restorer of traditional Roman religion and order after Nero's excesses, and Vesta's cult was central to that messaging.
RIC I #375 is among the commoner of Galba's As types, but "commoner" is relative for a seven-month reign.
