Obverse description Bare laureate head of Emperor Galba facing left, rendered in bold relief characteristic of the brief Galbан coinage. The imperial effigy displays the aged, strongly modelled features associated with portraiture of this emperor, with the laurel wreath clearly defined around the crown. The surrounding field carries the Latin legend arranged circularly, reading SER GALBA IMP CAESAR AVG TR P. The flan is irregular in shape, typical of hastily produced bronzes struck during the tumultuous Year of the Four Emperors.
