Galba's reign lasted seven months. The senatorial S C bronzes struck in his name represent one of the most compressed imperial production windows in the first century, and output was limited — RIC I 301 is not a common type. Galba came to power after Nero's suicide ended the Julio-Claudian line, and his almost immediate alienation of the Praetorian Guard by refusing them a promised donative sealed his fate. He was killed in the Roman Forum in January 69, the opening act of the Year of the Four Emperors.
