The senatorial mark S C (Senatus Consulto) flanks the central figure at mid-field, left and right respectively, as was standard for bronze denominations struck under senatorial authority. The legend PAXS AVGVSTI is distributed around the periphery of the flan. The composition conveys the Augustan iconographic tradition of imperial peace personified, employed by Galba to legitimize his brief reign. |
