| Beschrijving keerzijde | The personification of Libertas stands facing, rendered as a draped female figure in the classical tradition, holding a pileus (liberty cap) in her extended right hand and a long vindicta (rod) or sceptre in her left hand. The figure occupies the central field, flanked by the large senatorial mark of value S C (Senatus Consulto) positioned to the left and right of the figure respectively. The surrounding Latin legend LIBERTAS PVBLICA runs around the periphery of the flan. The reverse conveys the political propaganda of Galba's short reign, asserting the restoration of public liberty following the fall of Nero. |
