The aegis hangs down her back, a hallmark iconographic detail of this Domitianic reverse type. The composition conveys the aggressive military character favoured by Domitian's personal association with Minerva as his divine patron. The reverse legend is distributed around the periphery, with S C prominently flanking the figure in the field, denoting senatorial authority over bronze coinage. |
