Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of Domitian facing right, portrayed as a young prince with finely rendered curled hair beneath the laurel wreath. The neck truncation shows slight drapery at the shoulder. The encircling legend reads CAESAR AVG F DOMITIANVS COS V, disposed around the portrait within a beaded border, identifying him as Caesar, son of the Augustus (Vespasian), and consul for the fifth time. The portrait displays the confident, high-relief modeling characteristic of Flavian imperial coinage struck at the Rome Mint.
