Domitian's 84 AD bronze coinage was produced during his aggressive reassertion of imperial monetary policy, including a controversial restoration of the silver denarius to Neronian fineness — a reform he ultimately could not sustain and reversed within two years under fiscal pressure from military expenditure on the Rhine and Danube frontiers.
