| Reverse description | The goddess Ceres stands facing left in full figure, draped in a long stola and palla, rendered in the classical Roman sculptural tradition. She holds grain ears in her right hand extended forward and a long vertical torch in her left hand, her principal divine attributes as goddess of grain and the harvest. The field is plain, and the senatorial authority mark S C (Senatus Consultum) is positioned to the right of the figure at mid-field, confirming the senatorial prerogative over bronze coinage. The legend CERES AVGVST is disposed to the left and upper right of the figure, flanking the deity. The overall composition is characteristic of the restrained, dignified iconographic programme of Flavian state coinage. |
