| Obverse description | Laureate head of Domitian facing left, rendered in bold relief typical of early Flavian portraiture. The emperor's effigy displays a wreath of laurel leaves encircling the head, with finely detailed facial features including a prominent nose and strong jaw. The encircling legend runs from lower left around the upper field, identifying the emperor by his titles and consular number. The flan is slightly irregular, as is characteristic of hammered Roman aes coinage of this period. |

| Reverse description | Aequitas, the personification of equity and fairness, stands facing left in full figure, draped in a long tunic and mantle. In her raised right hand she holds a pair of scales, the symbol of impartial justice, while her left hand grasps a long vertical rod or sceptre. The legend AEQVITAS AVGVST is distributed around the field to left and upper right, with the senatorial authorisation mark S C (Senatus Consultum) prominently placed in the lower field to either side of the figure, as was standard on Flavian bronze coinage. |
