Obverse description Bare-headed portrait bust of the deified Emperor Claudius facing right, rendered in naturalistic Roman style with curly hair and a broad neck, the effigy presented as a truncated draped bust. The encircling legend runs clockwise around the portrait, identifying the emperor by his full titulature. The portrait reflects the posthumous idealization associated with Titus's restoration issues, cast with characteristic late Julio-Claudian artistic conventions.
