| Obverse description | Bare head of Augustus facing left, rendered in a realistic, classicizing portrait style typical of Augustan imperial coinage. The emperor's features are sharply defined, with the legend encircling the effigy in the field. The portrait occupies the majority of the flan, characteristic of late Augustan aes coinage. Surface patination and flan irregularity are consistent with hammered bronze production of the period. |
